Philosophy

A balanced, happy lifestyle begins at the root, and Heidi knows how to dig deep. She takes a fully holistic approach to health and wellness, looking at how all areas of life are interconnected. She asks questions like, “Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising?” Heidi does not dwell on calories or carbohydrates, or make lists of dietary restrictions. Instead, she works with you to create a healthy lifestyle in a way that is flexible, fun and rewarding.

Heidi has been there. She has made radical modifications to her own lifestyle, and she will tell you that the renovations are continuous and that changing is no easy task. She now feels full, complete and comfortable, and this is her wish for you, too. Heidi has a great desire to share her knowledge, whimsy and guidance, and to direct you on a path illuminated with resources and suggestions.

In Heidi’s words: “I wish to accompany you as you carefully renovate your existing lifestyle choices. I’m excited to introduce you to greener standards like eating local, fresh, organic food that supports your sacred body and your community. Self-care rituals, cultivating the art and practice of healthy food choices, personally choreographed daily movement, constant encouragement from me…this is what Chapter 1 Wellness is about. It is my honor to navigate, inform and share with you.”

’s company,  Chapter 1 Wellness, is about starting anew, revising what doesn’t work and adding what does, to create a healthier, more joyful story.

As a certified holistic health coach, licensed massage therapist, licensed aesthetician and Ayurveda educator, Heidi helps clients achieve a body-mind-spirit balance through a variety of customized techniques, making Chapter 1 a one-stop source for all things uplifting.

Heidi has been a holistic advocate since childhood, when she watched her active, health-conscience mother lead by example. Growing up in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region, with its variety of activities to stimulate the mind and exercise the body, kept her active and inquisitive.

She later lived in San Francisco and Marin County, Calif., and it was there that the sapphire waves of the northern West Coast, the Pacific Rim culture, the array of Eastern philosophies, and the vast modalities in holistic practices left an indelible impression on her. The experience raised her consciousness about alternative medicine and self-care.

While in California, Heidi worked as a freelance makeup artist and model, promoting global product lines such as Chanel, Estee Lauder, Polaroid, Neiman Marcus and Lillie Rubin. She exclusively represented artists like Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones and Peruvian painter Alberto Vargas. Her varied career opportunities in the art, beauty, theatre, entertainment, retail and real estate industries primed Heidi uniquely and led her toward the path of holistic healing.

Heidi received her health coach training at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting-edge program in New York City. She studied more than 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques and innovative coaching methods alongside some of the world’s top health and wellness experts: Dr. David Katz, founding director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Andrew Weil, founding director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and Walter Willett, chair of the Department of Nutrition at Harvard University.

Dual licensed, she trained in massage therapy and aesthetics at the Florida College of Natural Health in Sarasota and earned her Holistic Wellness Coaching certification from the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP). She is a certified Oncology Skin Care Therapist and a Chopra Center for Wellbeing Certified Instructor in Ayurveda “Perfect Health”. She also holds degrees in business administration and history. Currently she is completing her 200 hour Yoga Teachers Training Certification.

For fun, Heidi travels, runs, plays tennis, paddleboards, visits art museums and gardens. She is a member of the Biodynamic Farming and Gardening Association, Sarasota Carl Jung Society, and Florida Association of Esthetics. She enjoys giving of her time, and volunteering at various organizations locally and nationally and was a proud sponsor of the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant. Heidi has been a Florida resident for 15 years, living in Sarasota with her two lovable, tenacious dogs, China and Casey.
